Bullfrogs Strike First, Fall to Logers

In the opening game of the final season series of the season, the Bullfrogs fell to the La Crosse Loggers by a score of 9-4 at Joannes Stadium.

Collin Shaw put the Bullfrogs ahead 1-0 with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning. It was his first home run of the season.

The game remained at that score until the Loggers strung together four hits, a walk, and an error and took a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning. RBIs in the frame came from Tyler Kuresa on a single, Brandon Bednar on a fielder's choice, and Austin Bailey on a two-run double.

The Bullfrogs cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when David Armendariz tripled and then scored on a Billy Moon single to make the score 5-2.

The Loggers tacked on another run in the seventh inning with a solo home run from Kevin Kramer, and two more in the eighth inning with RBIs from Kuresa and Bednar to make the score 8-2.

The Bullfrogs rallied and cut it to 8-4 in the bottom of the eighth frame. Billy Moon and Taylor Petersen scored for the Bullfrogs, and Petersen had an RBI.

La Crosse added a run in the ninth with a sacrifice fly from Rich Prigatano.

The Bullfrogs are now 33-35 on the season, and need to win both of their last two games to finish at an even clip of .500.

The loss went to Zak Hermans (3-4). He gave up two earned runs in six innings of work. Bud Jeter gave up four earned in three innings to finish out the game.

The Bullfrogs will play game two of this three game series at Joannes Stadium Saturday. First pitch is at 7:05. Prizes will be raffled off throughout the game at Joannes Stadium.
