Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Down a run heading to the bottom of the sixth, Hunter Stovall and Niko Decolati bookended a 4-run rally with home runs as the Grand Junction Rockies beat the Missoula Osprey 11-4 Tuesday night at Suplizio.

Osprey starter Edgar Martinez left the game after five innings with a 2-1, and he was replaced on the mound by Landon Whitson. Hunter Stovall was the first batter he faced, and nothing had been decided after nine pitches, but on the tenth pitch, he slugged a home run over the left field wall to tie the game at 2. Coco Montes and Grant Lavigne followed with walks, and Niko Decolati gave the Rockies their first lead of the night with a home run to right, making it 5-2.

Cayden Hatcher made his first start of the season for the Rockies and allowed two runs in 2.1 innings, but Jared Skolnicki followed and allowed just one hit in 3.2 scoreless innings, earning the win. After he left the game and the Rockies took the lead, Michael Agis faced the minimum in the seventh, though the Osprey got to within a run when Zack Shannon hit a 2-run homer off Aneudy Duarte, but the Rockies got those back and then some in the bottom of the eighth.

They sent 10 to the plate in the inning and scored six runs. The first run scored on a wild pitch, Reese Berberet hit a 2-run single, Franklin Garcia brought in a run with a ground out, Cristopher Navarro doubled home a run, and Will Golsan capped the inning with an RBI single.

Rayne Supple put up a zero in the ninth to close the game out.

The win end the Rockies 3-game losing skid and improves them to 11-7 in the second half, 31-25 overall.

Golsan finished with three hits, while Stovall and Navarro added a pair.

The Rockies will close out their 7-game homestand when they take on the Osprey in the rubber game of the 3-game series Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:40.
