Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON - Sunday, September 17, 2006 is a day that 1,772 entusiastic Rox fans won't soon forget. Game 5 of the Can-Am League Championship series was an absolute classic, but unfortunately did not end in favor of the home town team. After returning home down 0-2 in the series, the Rox fed off of the crowd two consecutive nights to rally back and tie the series at two apiece.

The stage was set for a pitcher's duel on a warm and sunny day at Campanelli Stadium and did not fail to deliver. In a classic back-and-forth battle, the Rox led 3-0 after six but could not hold the lead, and the Capitales broke a 4-4 tie with a two out RBI double off the bat of LF Ed Montague in the top of the ninth in their first league championship. RHP John Kelly allowed two runs in six innings while striking out seven and picked up a no-decision in the final game of the season as the Rox took the loss 5-4.

The Brockton Rox thank you the fans for one of the most exciting seasons in Rox history. We look forward to seeing you out at the ballpark next season as the Rox start their campaign for a 2007 League Championship!!
