
Rox eliminated from Can-Am playoffs

BROCKTON - The Brockton Rox season came to a close on Saturday night as the team was swept out of the playoffs with a 13-5 defeat at the hands of the Quebec Capitales. Quebec won the best-of-five series three games to none.
Quebec set the tone for the night in the first inning. Danny Scalabrini was hit by a pitch, Goef Tomlinson singled, and Eddie Lantigua walked to load the bases for Quebec. Buck McNabb came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to put Quebec up, 4-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Rox chipped away at Quebec's lead. Brad Rosenblat was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Eddie Gerald. Gerald later scored on a two-out single by Eugene Julien to make it 4-2 Capitales.
Quebec pulled away to seal the Rox fate by scoring five runs in the fourth inning and an additional three in the fifth to take a 12-2 lead.
The Rox scored their final runs of the year in the sixth inning. Jake Daubert and Kris Zacuto reached on infield singles to start the inning. Rosenbalt reached on an error by Josh Fulton. The error allowed Daubert to score, making it 12-3. Zacuto scored on a groundout by Gerald making it 12-4, and Rosenblat scored on a groundout by Willie King to make it 12-5.
Eddie Lantigua hit a solo home run in the ninth inning, his second home run of the series, to give Quebec the 13-5 win.
Marcos Castillo picked up the win for Quebec, pitching a complete game. Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd suffered the loss for the Rox. Boyd pitched 3.0 innings, and gave up six runs on six hits, while surrendering two home runs.
The Quebec Capitales will advance to the Can-Am League Championship Series where they will meet the Worcester Tornadoes.
