Rox Drop Series Opener to Mankato in Front of Large Crowd

St. Cloud, MN - St. Cloud (19-13) fell in the series opener against Mankato by a final score of 4-0. Over 2,000 fans attended the game at the Rock Pile.

Cam Kline (Minnesota State-Mankato) gave the Rox a great start on the mound, pitching seven innings and striking out five batters.

The Rox were able to load the bases in the eighth inning following a single from Brady Harlan (Oklahoma) and two consecutive hit by pitches to Landon Stephens (Miami-Ohio) and Jordan Barth (Augustana).

Seven of the nine batters in the lineup were able to record base hits. Garrett Delano (Brown), Hance Smith (California-Berkeley), Ben Carew (Kent State), Harlan, Stephens and Barth all recorded one hit. Brendan Tinsman (Wake Forest) had two base hits.

Justin Wick (Creighton) and Max Rippl (Kent State) both saw action out of the bullpen.

St. Cloud will be back at home on Sunday against the Mankato MoonDogs with a 4:05 p.m. first pitch. It's Baseball Giveaway presented by Sentry Bank to the first 300 fans fourteen and under. It's also Friends and Family Deal presented by Taco John's. Four general admission tickets, four Rox hats and four Taco John's combo meals are available for just $40 dollars. Sunday is also a Coborn's Kids Day as children will have the chance to run the bases and get autographs on the field after the game.
