Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis - The Madison Mallards and Festival Foods are excited to continue their commitment to community involvement in the Madison area with the return of Festival Foods Shake the Lake. Now in its fifth year, the free community celebration is planned for this Saturday, June 29, 2019.
Festival Foods Shake the Lake will feature live music, food and family activities on John Nolen Drive between Broom Street and Blair Street. The event will start at 5:00 PM this year. The 2019 event will again feature two stages of national music acts, on each side of the Monona Terrace. A full lineup of musical performers can be found below.
Event management has worked closely with the City of Madison to ensure the safety of all guests in attendance. The following rules will be in place on the day of the event:
There will be a slow, no-wake on Lake Monona from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM on Saturday, June 29
The city bike path will be closed from 4:00 - 11:00 PM throughout the entire event zone. Bikers will need to dismount their bikes and enter the event zone through the entrance gates.
No dogs are allowed within the event zone.
No weapons or firearms are allowed
There will be no smoking in the event zone.
No carry-ins, except for one bottle of water (20 oz or less) will be allowed. This includes no food and beverage, coolers, grills, or fireworks.
The event will feature over 30 local vendors to provide a wide range of food options that will appeal to all ages. For those over 21, the beverage line up will include a mix of brews from local breweries. New to the venue this year will be a canned spiked seltzer option available for purchase throughout the event.
The event will conclude with Wisconsin's largest fireworks display, the Festival Foods Fireworks show, starting at 10 p.m. Reeseville, Wisconsin-based Spectrum Pyrotechnics, will conduct the fireworks show. The company is one of just a few manufacturers of display fireworks left in the United States, and Festival Foods Shake the Lake is honored to present its custom work.
Fireworks will be fired from multiple barges on Lake Monona, and the show will be choreographed to music with fireworks and effects selected to match the soundtrack.
Family-focused entertainment will be present throughout the duration of the event. The Underground Aerialists will make their return, and newcomers, Ed Bounds and the Dinosaur Show and Chris Vogt, the extreme juggler will be on site. For more hands-on activities, attendees are encouraged to visit the MilliporeSigma Curiosity Cube on the east side of the event or Funny Faces for glitter tattoos. Also returning for another year, is Havens Petting Farm which will be located on the east side.
Great free views of the Festival Foods Fireworks will be available on John Nolen Drive, where there will be food, beverages and family entertainment for the duration of the event. Reserved tickets to enjoy the spectacular views of the show from the Monona Terrace Rooftop. Tickets are $20. This event has sold out the last four years.
