Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - A night after wrapping a two-game series that saw them record 26 hits, the Pit Spitters were only able to muster three against the Kenosha Kingfish Saturday. Those three happened to be enough however, as, aided by a three-run homer from Adam Proctor (SO Michigan State,) they downed the visiting Kingfish by a score of 6-2, extending their win streak to eight games.

While the hits were hard to come by for the offense, it was business as usual for Pit Spitters starting pitcher Kyle Jones (FR Toledo.) After allowing a single run in the second, he would go on to toss seven innings of one run ball, yielding nine hits and a walk, striking out four. He recorded his third quality start in his last four and earned the victory, taking him to 4-1 on the campaign.

Supporting Proctor in the offensive effort was Andrew Morrow (JR Michigan State,) who chipped in an RBI triple, and Jake Wilson (JR Bowling Green,) who drove in a run, scored a run, and swiped two bases.

The win allows the Pit Spitters to retain their advantage atop the Great Lakes East division of the Northwoods League as we approach the half-way point in the season.
