July 25, 2018 - Pioneer League (PL)
Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release
The Grand Junction Rockies winning streak is over at six games after they ended the first half with a 6-3 loss to the Great Falls Voyagers Tuesday night at Suplizio Field.
The Rockies took the lead in the second inning with a pair of runs. Grant Lavigne started the inning with a triple and scored on Jeff Moberg's RBI ground out, and following a pair of walks, Franklin Garcia doubled home a second run, but after the Voyagers bats were kept quiet for three inning against Alfredo Garcia, they woke up in the fourth.
Amado Nunez and Adam McGinnis started the inning with hits and Alex Destino gave the Voyagers the lead with a three-run homer, his fourth of the season. Then with nobody on and two out, Jhoandro Alfaro went deep for the third time, making it 4-2.
Great Falls added a run in the fifth, but the Rockies got that back when Reese Berberet singled home Lavigne, but the Rockies didn't score again, and the Voyagers added an unearned run in the seventh.
Alfredo Garcia took the loss, falling to 2-4 on the season. He allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings. The bullpen duo of Cayden Hatcher and Michael Agis combined to hold the Voyagers to one unearned run over the game's final four innings.
Lavigne and Coco Montes had two hits, but the Rockies managed just seven for the game and finished with 14 strikeouts.
Grand Junction finishes the first half of the season with a record of 20-18 and will open the second half Wednesday night at Lindquist Field in the first game of a 3-game series against the Ogden Raptors.
