July 25, 2018 - Pioneer League (PL)
Helena Brewers News Release

Helena, MT - On the night the first half came to an end, the Brewers and Raptors played one of the craziest games of the season. The Brewers had leads of 8-2 and 14-10, and couldn't hold either one, as the Raptors scored six combined in the last two frames, including four in the ninth inning, to win 16-14. For the Brewers, it was the most runs they scored in a game all year, and the first game they played in which both teams scored in double digits. Helena finishes the first half 17-21.

Helena's offense got the ball rolling in the first, as Je'Von Ward drew a one out walk, and stole second with Chad McClanahan up. McClanahan struck out, but Eddie Silva delivered with a two out double on the first pitch he saw from Caleb Sampen, scoring Ward easily to make it 1-0 Brewers.

Ogden tied the game at one in the third on s two out double from Daniel Robinson. Helena responded though with four in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by RBIs from LG Castillo, Silva, and Bryan Connell. The Raptors made it 5-2 Helena on an RBI double from Matt Cogen, but Helena extended the lead to 8-2 thanks to a three run homer from Silva in the fourth.

In the fifth, it all fell apart for Brewers pitching, as Ogden scored eight runs against three different Brewers pitchers. Starter Wilfred Salaman exited after a solo homer from Cogen, but with the Brewers still leading 8-6. When the dust settled, Ogden had a 10-8 lead.

Helena got a run back in the bottom of the inning as an error from Jeremy Arocho helped bring home Connell to make it 10-9. The Brewers retook the lead in the seventh as three Raptors errors helped bring home five runs, putting Helena in front 14-10.

However, Ogden had the last laugh, scoring two unearned runs in the eighth, and four in the ninth to take a 16-14 lead. The Brewers got the tying run to the plate, but Ward hit into a double play to end the game. Ogden committed six errors, while Helena committed four.

Despite the loss, Eddie Silva had the performance of the year, going 4 for 4 with 5 RBI. He is the first Brewer to record four hits in a game and the first to notch 5 RBI in a game.

With the first half over, the standings reset and the Brewers start fresh on Thursday in Great Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM, with the pregame show hitting the airwaves of helenabrewers.net at 6:45 PM.
