Brockton Rox News Release
The Rox (27-28) took on the Titans (23-29) as Brockton was trying to capture a home playoff game in-front of 3,000 fans. Brockton has the same record as the North Shore Navigators, so winning Friday night would be crucial for the team.
The game went Torrington's way for the majority of the game. The Titans scored a run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead after 2 with RBI's from Mike DeMartino and Nick Lamberti.
The Rox would add a run of their own in the 3rd inning with a solo home run from Billy Riches, but Torrington piled it on with a 4 run 4th inning to take a 7-1 lead.
Brockton wouldn't go down without a fight. After falling behind 7-3, Brockton bounced back in the 8th inning. Jake Marotta drove in Alex Perry with an RBI-single. Marotta would score later in the inning to close the gap to 7-5.
Torrington went up 3 in the top of the 9th as Mike Kochiss scored with an error by Jake Marotta.
Brockton entered the bottom of the 9th behind 8-5. Alex Perry made it a one run game with a 2-RBI single to center field that scored Rob Andreoli and Chris Berry. Perry eventually made it to 3rd base with a steal and an error by the catcher. Unfortunately, Brockton could not bring him home with Eric Feliz and Dillon Cooper at the plate as Brockton lost 8-7.
Brockton's next game is tomorrow as they travel to Wachusett to take on the Dirt Dawgs (19-34). The playoffs will start Sunday and it is still TBD whether Brockton will have a home game. Keep up with the Rox n Facebook to find out!
