
Round Rock tops Iowa 4-2

Iowa Cubs starter Sean Marshall was impressive, striking out six over three innings, but the Iowa Cubs fell 4-2 to the Round Rock Express on Friday night at Principal Park.
Andres Torres got the Cubs on the scoreboard early with a solo homer in the first inning to give the Iowa a 1-0 lead. However, Round Rock bounced back with a pair of runs in the sixth inning when Johnny Ash doubled and was driven home on Danny Klassen's RBI groundout. Lance Niekro singled to drive home Reggie Abercrombie to take a 2-1 lead. The Express tacked on another run in the seventh inning and added one more tally in the eighth.
Bobby Scales added the other Iowa run with a pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning. Eric Patterson and Casey McGehee doubled for the Cubs, who had just six hits on the night.
The Cubs and Express meet again tomorrow for a split doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. followed by game two at 7:05 p.m. at Principal Park.
