RoughRiders\' Lovdahl Named USHL Defensive Player of the Week

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Shane Lovdahl has been named the United States Hockey League's Defensive Player of the Week.
Lovdahl, 19, earned the honor after picking up one goal and one assist and turning in a hugely impressive plus/minus rating of +8 as the RoughRiders posted road wins in Des Moines and Waterloo last weekend. Lovdahl notched both points and was an eye-popping +5 in the RoughRiders' 9-3 demolition of the Buccaneers last Friday. The second-year blue liner kept up his strong two-way play one night later, earning a +3 rating as the Riders overcame the archrival Black Hawks 4-2.
"This is a very well deserved honor for Shane," said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson. "He worked very hard in the off-season and he's come back this year as one of our most consistent and confident performers."
On the season, Lovdahl is among the top scoring defenseman in the USHL with two goals and six points in nine games. Last season, the Anchorage, Alaska, native scored a pair of goals and totaled seven points in 51 games.
Lovdahl and the RoughRiders will return to action this weekend when they visit Green Bay for games against the Gamblers Friday and Saturday. Last weekend's victories stretched the Riders' season-opening road winning streak to a franchise record-tying five consecutive games. The RoughRiders (5-3-1, 11 points) are now tied for second place in the USHL's East Division.
The RoughRiders' next home game is Saturday night, November 8, against the Lincoln Stars. Tickets for that game- and the rest of the RoughRiders' first half home dates- are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office.
Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee.
