Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Clark Cup playoff tickets will go on sale to the general public Wednesday, March 17, at noon at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office (261-4625), the RoughRiders announced today.

As the RoughRiders need to win nine playoff games (three best-of-five series), to claim the Clark Cup, all adult playoff tickets will be available for just $9. Youth playoff tickets will cost just $5 for those 18-and-under.

The RoughRiders will also unveil special playoff merchandise featuring the "9" theme this Saturday evening when they take on the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

"While there's a lot of hockey left to be played and while there are a lot of teams in our league that have a great shot at winning the Clark Cup, we're beginning to get very excited about the prospect of a lot of Rider playoff hockey in April," said RoughRiders president and CEO Pat Forciea. "Playoff hockey can be awfully magical and we hope to experience some of that magic this spring."

The RoughRiders (28-20-2, 58 points) are in second place in the United States Hockey League's East Division with ten games remaining in the regular season, which concludes on March 27. The Riders are close to clinching their fourth straight playoff berth. This year the Clark Cup playoffs will begin in late March or early April.

Because the first round playoff schedule will only be finalized at or just before the end of the regular season, playoff tickets will be designated as good for "game A", "game B", etc. Dates, times and opponents for playoff games will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

The RoughRiders are one of just two teams to have reached the Clark Cup semi-finals each of the last two seasons. The Clark Cup is symbolic of supremacy in American junior hockey and is presented annually to the playoff champions of the USHL, the nation's only Tier I junior league.
