Roughnecks to begin this Monday...Not Saturday
March 1, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
West Texas Roughnecks News Release
ODESSA, TX. With less than a week before the start of the 2005 season, the Beaumont Drillers of the National Indoor Football League have secured an agreement with the new, stat-of-the-art Ford Center as a home for their games this year. Moving from a much older facility, General Manager Steven Reap stated, "We are very excited and feel like it is the right move for our franchise. We only wish that this announcement could have come a bit sooner and apologize for any inconvenience that this last minute change may cause."
Reap was referring in part to a move in date for a couple of their games including the Roughnecks season opener. Originally scheduled for Saturday, March 5th, the game will now be played on Monday, March 7th. This game can be heard live on the radio beginning at 6:45 PM with kick-off at 7:00 PM on 97 Gold FM. "While we certainly would rather not have any adjustments to the announced schedule, we are pleased for our partners in Beaumont and this very positive news, explained Roughnecks President Tommy Benizio.
