West Texas Roughnecks News Release

ODESSA, TX. : Odessa Roughnecks players will be involved with a special charity football camp on Saturday, June 20 starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. The camp will take place from Ross Elementary School located at the corner of Clover and 47th Street in Odessa. Proceeds made from the camp will go to help the new charity of Helping Kids Be Kids. Children from third through sixth grade will have the opportunity to learn the game of football from the help Roughnecks and Odessa Permian High School players.

One hundred percent of what is earned at the fundraiser will go to benefit and offer less-fortunate children the chance to start playing sports at a young age, even those that have financial difficulties. All those that participate will have the chance to learn the game from both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

"It is very much a win-win situation because these kids will have the chance to learn from professional football players and outstanding high school prospects. We have had so much support from other companies in regards to our charity and we hope to expand the charity as far as we can. It's a process in which we want to help as many children as we can." stated David Lay, Founder of Helping Kids Be Kids.

The camp costs $25 per child to participate and by participating each child will receive a T-shirt and free lunch starting at 12:00 p.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. The Odessa Roughnecks are on a bye week this week and the team will return to action the following week as they prep for their next home game on Saturday, June 27 versus the Corpus Christi Hammerheads starting at 7:11 p.m. from the Ector County Coliseum.
