CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks are gearing up for playoffs and would like to welcome their fans to visit Okotoks Centennial Arena Saturday, May 2nd to take in an afternoon of Rigger lacrosse. The entire Roughnecks squad will be in attendance as the team prepares for their first playoff game of the 2009 season.

Following the Roughnecks' practice, which gets started at 1 p.m., the team will be sticking around to support fellow Rigger teammate Bruce Codd, who will be coaching in his first Jr. A Raiders game. The Okotoks Raiders take on the Sr. Calgary Mountaineers at 3:00 p.m., in what will be their opening game of the 2009 season.

"I think it's a great opportunity for the community of Okotoks to have the Roughnecks come out, giving fans a chance to interact with the team," said Codd.

Fans will not only have the opportunity to take in the Roughnecks practice and the Raiders and Mountaineers game, but can also get autographs and photos taken with their favourite Calgary Roughnecks.

Codd has been playing professional lacrosse since 2000 and has been coaching lacrosse teams of various ages for the past 10 years.

This is Codd's first year as head coach as well as his first year coaching in the province of Alberta.

"It is exciting to have the opportunity to be head coach at the Jr. A level and it is certainly a great opportunity to coach in Calgary," added Codd.

Codd won the 2008 Minto Cup while he was Assistant Coach of the Orangeville Northmen last year.

The Calgary Roughnecks will take on the Colorado Mammoth in the Western Division Semi-Final on Sunday, May 3rd at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Game time is 3:00 p.m. MT.
