
Roughnecks Struggle in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA- The Tulsa Roughnecks traveled to Sacramento to take on Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, June 22ndat Papa Murphy's Park. The Tulsa Roughnecks were looking to grab points away from home for the fifth time this season.
The match began with each side looking to establish themselves. In the eighth minute, Sacramento Republic FC won a corner. Villyan Bijev put the cross in deep into the box towards the back post and Mitchell Taintor put his head on the end of it into the bottom corner of the goal. Just before the half, Jordan McCrary got ahold of the ball on the outside of the box and cut a cross towards the penalty spot as Cameron Iwasa was there to put it across the face of the goal and into the bottom corner. The half ended at 2-0 to Sacramento.
The second half began quickly with Sacramento Republic FC extending the lead in the 48thminute. Cameron Iwasa forced a turnover in the Tulsa Roughnecks half and played a through ball to Stefano Bonomo who tucked it away on his first touch, making it 3-0. In the 70thminute, Sacramento Republic FC picked up a free kick in the Tulsa Roughnecks FC half. Villyan Bijev put a cross into the box and Cameron Iwasa got his head on it to get his second of the night. Sam Werner delivered a cross into the box that Stefano Bonomo got on the end of to take the lead to 5 in the 74thminute. In the 80thminute, Sam Werner picked the ball up on the right side of the Tulsa Roughnecks half and took it down the outside to cut inside near the corner of the six-yard box and tucked in the sixth goal of the match. The match soon ended at 6-0 to Sacramento Republic FC.
The Tulsa Roughnecks are back at home next week for a match at ONEOK Field on Saturday, June 29thagainst Real Monarchs.
