Calgary Roughnecks News Release
The Calgary Roughnecks will today unveil a new uniform - one that will be worn when they're away from the lacrosse arena, but when they're on lacrosse business.
"When we travel people will be in no doubt that it's the Calgary Roughnecks who are passing through the airport or sitting beside them on the plane," said President and General Manager, Brad Banister.
"The new gear will reflect both our lacrosse image (the Roughnecks are the most penalized team in the National Lacrosse League) and also our Western heritage."
Banister added, "Not only do we want to wear the outfits to promote the Roughnecks, we also hope it promotes the Stampede and the city of Calgary. We are proud to represent Calgary and this is one way we can display that pride.
"When it comes to lacrosse though, the intention of the new look is to let the opposition know that when they come into our barn (the Saddledome) they are in for a rough ride."
Several of the Roughnecks, including captain Tracey Kelusky and assistant captain Kaleb Toth, will model the new look at a press conference to be held this afternoon (Friday) at the Roughnecks office, 206 -- 11 Avenue S.E. at 2.30 p.m.
