Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings have signed 6'3" forward Spencer Martin, brother of Wings defenseman Andrew Martin, to a one-year contract, it was announced today by Wings General Manager Marty O'Neill. Martin will join his brother Andrew as the team heads to Toronto to face the 2003 National Lacrosse League Champion Rock at the Air Canada Centre this Saturday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m.
"Spencer gives us some much needed depth on the left side," said Wings General Manager Marty O'Neill. "He can play offense and defense and adds great versatility to our lineup."
Martin has played two seasons in the NLL with the Columbus Landsharks. He recorded 18 points (18G, 13A) in 17 career games with the Landsharks. Martin, a native of Coquitlam, B.C., played his junior lacrosse for the Burnaby Sr. A Lakers in British Columbia.
"Obviously from a personal standpoint it's great having my brother living in the same city and playing for the same team as me," said Andrew Martin. "I also really think he adds a lot to this team as a whole and think that all the guys will enjoy having him on board."
This is the first time that brothers have played for the Wings at the same time since Paul and Gary Gait played together in 1993 and '94.
The Wings also announced that forward Andrew Wasik has been released from their roster. Wasik had scored one goal in two games played for the Wings this season. The Montville, N.J. native was in his third season with the Wings.

The Wings will play five additional home games at the Wachovia Center including Saturday, February 21 vs. the Buffalo Bandits; Saturday, February 28 vs. the Toronto Rock; Saturday March 13 vs. the Rock; Saturday, March 20 vs. the Anaheim Storm; and Saturday, March 27 vs. the Knighthawks.
