Roughnecks Sign Former Tarleton State OL Dustin Washburn

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks announced on Friday, April 30 that the organization has acquired former Tarleton State offensive linemen/center Dustin Washburn. Washburn (6'2", 310 lbs.) started in all 13 games as a senior for the Texans program during the 2009 season. Washburn was a key factor on a Texans offensive line that helped the club finish 10-3 overall in 2009 and clinch the Lone Star Conference Championship including the Lone Star Conference South Division Championship. Washburn was recognized on the field as well as in the classroom following the 2009 season. He was an honorable mention All-LSC South Division selection and was named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team. The Abilene, TX native majored in kinesiology while he attended Tarleton State.
Washburn started in all 11 games for Tarleton State as a junior in 2008. He was part of an offensive line that allowed just 13 sacks and helped average 187.2 rushing yards a game with 25 rushing touchdowns. Washburn and the offensive line also helped the passing department post an average of 188.4 passing yards a game and 14 touchdown passes. Following the '08 season, Washburn was an honorable mention All-LSC South Division selection.
As a sophomore in 2007, Washburn started in nine of 11 games including the final eight games of the season. He was part of an offensive line that helped produce 175.5 yards on the ground and 276.6 yards through the air.
Washburn attended Abilene Cooper High School where he was named All-District as a senior in 2005 and was fifth in the district in tackles-for-loss as a sophomore.
