Roughnecks Provide Mammoth Heartbreak, Win Fourth Straight

Valentines Day turned out to be a sweet one for the Calgary Roughnecks and one of bitter heartbreak for the Colorado Mammoth, as the Roughnecks dropped Colorado 14-13 in overtime Friday night in Denver.
Tyson Leies capped the win for the Roughnecks with 16.3 seconds remaining in the first sudden death overtime period. The goal was the second on the night for the Roughnecks fan favourite, marking the fourth straight win for the surging Roughnecks.
"What a great team win, tonight was a battle between two very evenly matched teams our guys played their hearts out from the opening face off until Tyson's goal," said Roughnecks head coach, Chris Hall.
The win moves the Roughnecks to 6-3 on the season and sets another franchise high for wins in a season and for consecutive wins. The game also marks the first loss at home for Colorado. "This team is showing everyone else what we have known since training camp, the 2003 edition of the Calgary Roughnecks are for real," said Leies.
The Roughnecks were led by three goal performances by Kaleb Toth and Jason Wulder. Tracey Kelusky and Tyson Leies each chipped in with a pair and Jesse Phillips, Kyle Goundrey, Lewis Ratcliff and Neil Doddridge each scored once. The Roughnecks take next week off before heading to Toronto to battle the Rock for top spot in the National Lacrosse League's Northern Division on Friday, February 28.
