FC Tulsa News Release

TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Roughnecks played host to LA Galaxy II in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday, July 24th at ONEOK Field.

The match started with a bang as Rodrigo Da Costa found Fredlin Mompremier on the end of a through ball into the LA Galaxy II goal box. Mompremier then took a cut to the byline and cut the ball back to the penalty spot for Da Costa to tuck it away in the bottom right corner giving the Roughnecks the lead in the 3rd minute. The momentum swayed each way until the 27th minute whenever Jorge Hernandez found himself on the Roughnecks byline and chipped a cross back post. Nate Shultz sprinted in from the back side and dives to get his head on it leveling the score at one. The half ended with LA Galaxy II carrying the momentum in to half, but finished even at one a piece.

At halftime, the Barks & Brews Halftime Wiener Dog Race took place. The racers ran amuck, but Pilar finished as top dog.

The second half began quickly as LA Galaxy II won a free kick deep in the Roughnecks half. Jose Hernandez crossed a high lofted ball towards the penalty spot. Augustine Williams found some space and put his head on the end of it, burying the ball into the bottom corner giving LA Galaxy II the lead. In the 69th minute, LA Galaxy II was flying down the field with a sure one versus one on the Roughnecks. Matt Rogers made a last ditch slide tackle and was given a straight red card for the challenge. Immediately attacking the open space, in the 75th minute, Jorge Hernandez found himself behind the Roughnecks backline thanks to a Lucas Gonzalez through ball. With his first touch, Hernandez put it across goal into the bottom corner, past Mason Stajduhar to give LA Galaxy II the 3-1 lead. The match ended with LA Galaxy II walking away victorious with the score line 3-1.
