FC Tulsa News Release
Tulsa Roughnecks FC will play their second home match in 48 hours when it hosts Arizona United SC at ONEOK Field on Sunday night. Stadium gates open at 6:30pm with kickoff slated for 7:30pm. It is one of the premium giveaways of the season with the first 1,000 fans of all ages receiving Roughnecks FC miniature soccer balls from Vatterott College and 2 News Works For You. Fans will need to enter through the Arvest and Oil Derrick Entrances to receive the giveaway.
It will be a quick turnaround for both teams, but it gives both sides an opportunity to put disappointing losses behind them. Tulsa dropped a 3-1 decision to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 Friday night at ONEOK Field, while Arizona United was blanked 3-0 in Oklahoma City.
It will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams. On May 9 in Scottsdale, Arizona, they battled to a 1-1 draw. Gibson Bardsley netted the tying goal in the 89th minute for Tulsa. The Roughnecks nearly grabbed the full three points as a header from Andy Lorei in extra time rolled just wide of the far post.
Both sides are still very much in the middle of the race for the playoffs in the USL's Western Conference. The Roughnecks are currently in the 8th spot with 25 points (7-9-4), while Arizona are in 11th on 22 points (7-11-1), but with a game in hand.
The game will be broadcast live on Tulsa's Sports Radio AM 1300 with Jeremie Poplin, David Saunders and Andy Lorei calling the action. The broadcast can be heard online at 1300TheBuzz.com or through the iHeartRadio mobile app. It will also be shown live on the Roughnecks FC YouTube channel.
