Roughnecks Fall to the Rush in Pre-Season Battle

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks fall to the reigning NLL Champions, Saskatchewan Rush, on Saturday evening at the SaskTel Centre in their only pre-season showing.
The two teams kept it close in the first half, but the Rush pulled out ahead in the second quarter building leads of 6-5, 10-7 and 17-11.
Rhys Duch, recently picked up by Calgary on Nov. 28 after being released by the Vancouver Warriors, led the Riggers with five goals. Veteran Dane Dobbie and Carter Dickson, who was selected in the third-round 45th overall in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft, followed with two markers each. Riley Loewen and Tyler pace rounded out the scoring for the visitors.
Jeff Shattler led the Rush with four goals while Ben McIntosh and Ryan Keenan chipped in three a piece for the home team. Mark Matthews and Matthew Dinsdale both found the back of the net twice while Connor Robinson and Zach Gould, Saskatchewan's 2018 NLL Entry Draft picks, scored a goal each.
The Roughnecks will open their 2018-19 regular season home schedule on Saturday, December 15, against the Vancouver Warriors. Scotiabank Saddledome doors will welcome fans at 5:30 p.m. for the new $5 Happy Hour featuring food and beverage specials at all concourse concessions. The $5 menu will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during all nine weekend home games.
