Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks were defeated by the San Diego Seals 13-10 in their first game back after an extended six week break.
Calgary's offence was strong to start, with four goals in the first six shots forcing the Seals to switch out goaltending. A game with heavy penalties on both sides created opportunities for Calgary's special teams to shine, with goals on the power play by Zach Herreweyers and Jesse King in the first half. San Diego came out strong in the second, pulling ahead and denying the Riggers the chance to even the score, with four fourth quarter goals to finish the game with the Seals ahead by three.
Kyle Waters scored his first NLL career goal in the 1st quarter, finishing with two goals alongside Curtis Dickson (2g, 1a). Marshal King also notched his first of the season, with Tanner Cook and Haiden Dickson also contributing one each. Zach Herreweyers (1g, 3a) led the team in points with four.
The Riggers now head to Denver for their first match up of the season with the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, February 5th at 7pm MT. The game can be streamed live on TSN Direct for Canadian viewers, and ESPN+ for those residing in the United States.
Calgary will take to WestJet Field at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday, February 11th for their Valentine's Party.
