Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Calgary, AB (Tuesday, November 1, 2005) - Devan Wray, who missed most of last season with a severe knee injury, signed a new deal with the Calgary Roughnecks today. The one-year pact is subject to National Lacrosse League approval.
"Devan provides us with great stability at the back end and also offers some spark in the transition game," said General Manager Kurt Silcott.
"He should be fully recovered from his injury by training camp and we're very confident he'll pick up where he left off."
Wray, 26, who joined the Riggers just prior to the 2004 season, was obtained from the Vancouver Ravens in exchange for a first round pick in the 2005 entry draft.
He won two Minto Cups (1998 and 2000) with the Burnaby Lakers and two AAC championships with Duke University, where he served as team captain in 2003.
He was also a member of the Roughnecks squad that won the NLL's Champion's Cup in 2004.
In his 22-game career with Calgary, Wray has registered five goals and six assists. He has also collected 93 loose balls and 16 penalty minutes.
Devan's younger brother Taylor, also a Roughneck, won the league's Rookie of the Year and Co-Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2004.
