Roughnecks Come up Short in Rochester

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Knighthawks edged the Calgary Roughnecks 12-11 on Saturday at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY.

The three-time defending NLL champion Knighthawks jumped to an early 6-1 advantage in the opening quarter and carried a 7-5 lead into the second half.

The Roughnecks, who strung together a six-goal run with tallies from Shawn Evans (3), Jeff Shattler (2) and Daryl Veltman, tied the game at 11 apiece after three consecutive fourth-quarter goals from Curtis Dickson. With less than four minutes remaining, Cody Jamieson scored his third of the night to secure the Knighthawks' win.

Evans added five assists to finish the game with eight points while Jamieson also had four helpers to lead the home club's offensive attack with a seven-point effort.

Matt Vinc turned aside 46 of 57 shots to record the win. Frankie Scigliano made six saves while Mike Poulin, in a relief appearance, had 23 stops for Calgary.

The Roughnecks (1-7) will now face the Edmonton Rush (4-3) on Sunday, Mar. 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Rexall Place. Calgary's next home game is Saturday, Mar. 14 at 7:00 p.m. against the Knighthawks.
