Roughnecks Add One; NFL Officials on Board

March 3, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
West Texas Roughnecks News Release

ODESSA, TX. The latest addition to the Roughneck roster is Patrick Wilbert, a 6 foot 6 inch 320 pound goliath who looks to make a big impact on the offensive and defensive line. Wilbert, who was released last season for being out of shape, spent the off-season trimming down from 370 to a lighter, more effective playing weight. "We liked what we saw from Patrick last year, and now that he has shed 50 pounds we can't wait to see what he can do," said head coach, Chris Williams.

Patrick Wilbert is from Big Springs. He played college ball at San Angelo State.

The Roughnecks good fortune continues, as camp has been relatively injury free. Also, starting quarterback, Jason Johnson is settling into a leadership role. "Not only has he (Johnson) been incredibly sharp on the field, he is also really starting to take the reins and lead this team," said Williams.

The NFL officiating department entered into a partnership with the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) for the 2005 season. The NFL officiating department is now involved in the recruiting, training and evaluation of the NIFL officials for 2005 (Reprinted from Referee Magazine).

Further information on these topics along with season ticket and corporate partnership details can be obtained by calling (432) 332-PASS (7277) or by logging onto the team's website at www.RoughnecksNIFL.com.
