Rough Riders Receiving Corps Continues to Grow

Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Chuck Goodwin announced the signings of two wide receivers on Monday. The team has signed Keith Herron and Paul Mandeville.

WR Keith Herron (5'9", 185 lbs.) will once again join Rough Riders QB Matt Schabert on the gridiron. Herron teamed with Schabert in the semi pro ranks last fall playing for the Kane County Eagles. In 2005, Keith led the team in receptions (45), receiving yards (1,200 yds.) and touchdowns (25). In 2003 Herron played for the Lake County Chiefs of the semi professional Chicagoland Football League. That season Keith was team MVP and named CFL Offensive Player of the Year. Prior to his semi-pro career, Herron played at Indiana State University. While playing for the Sycamores, Keith was named All-Conference Honorable mention in the Gateway Football Conference for the 2000 season. Keith also set the ISU single season average yards per punt return record with 201 yards on 10 returns.

Also looking to catch passes from Schabert will be 6'1", 188 lbs. Paul Mandeville. Mandeville was a three-year starter at NCAA Div. II Campbellsville University after transferring from the University of Tennessee. Paul finished his college career with 31 receptions, 5 TD and 456 receiving yards. Mandeville was a two-sport athlete (Football, Track and Field) for the Fighting Tigers setting school records in the 100m and 200m.

The Peoria Rough Riders will begin their 2nd season in the UIF on March 25 at home against the Bloomington Extreme. Single game tickets will go on sale at 10:00a.m. Saturday, February 25th.
