Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the return and signing of defensive linemen Austin Flyger and Nate Fluit. The tandem combined for 106 tackles and 12 sacks in the regular season and led a smothering Storm defense to the 2005 United Bowl Championship.
Flyger is entering his 3rd season at defensive end for the Storm. The former Augustana standout followed up an 8 sack season in 2004 with a team leading 7.5 sack output in 2005. The 6'2" 260 lb. Flyger recorded 50 tackles in 2005 with 13 of those tackles resulting in lost yardage.
Fluit is also an Augustana graduate who has already had a tremendous career as a Storm player. Nate is entering his 4th season at defensive end for the Storm. The 6'1" 260 lb. Fluit owns the Storm single season sack record when he tallied 15 in 2003 and was named Defensive MVP that year. He followed that season with 11 sacks in 2004. In 2005, Fluit recorded 43.5 tackles and 4.5 sacks, but was nagged by injuries during the season.
General Manager Colin Steen says of Austin Flyger and Nate Fluit, "Their motors NEVER stop! These two are the hardest working players I've ever seen during practice, in the weight room and of course on game day. We are a better team with Austin and Nate returning to our team."
