
Rough Riders Get Bigger, Faster, Stronger as 2006 Season Approaches

The Peoria Rough Riders have gotten a little bigger, faster and stronger with the signings of OL Ya'Tarrie Brown, RB Samuel Blocker and RB Brandon Robinson.
Ya'Tarrie Brown a 6'5" 365 lbs. offensive lineman will join the Rough Riders for the 2006 season. Brown was a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference 1st team selection for the NCAA Div. II Concordia University-St. Paul Golden Bears in 2005. Along with All-conference honors, Ya'Tarrie was selected to the 2005 Daktronics All-Region Team. Ya'Tarrie along with recently signed C.J. Sanderson paved the way for a record setting offense at Concordia last season. The Golden Bears had the 11th rank rushing offense in NCAA Div.2 and set the school record for rushing yards with 2,756 yards. That record had stood for 35 years.
Also trading in the blue and gold of Concordia for Rough Riders sliver, black and gold is Samuel Blocker. Blocker a 5'7", 187 lbs. RB, started his collegiate career at Henderson State University of the Gulf South Conference. Blocker started as a freshman for the Reddies amassing 753 yards and was named the team's freshman of the year. Samuel ranked 18th in the nation in kick returns that same season. Blocker later transferred to Concordia-St.Paul and rushed for 703 yards in his senior season.
Returning to the Rough Riders for the 2006 season is 5'10", 205 lbs. RB Brandon Robinson. In 13 games for Peoria last season Robinson rushed 329 yards and 12 touchdowns on 103 carries. Brandon also caught 15 passes for 141 yards and had a 17.8-yard average for kickoff returns. Robinson returned 3 missed field goals for 105 yards and 1 TD during the 2005 season.
The Peoria Rough Riders are entering their 2nd season in United Indoor Football and their 8th year in indoor/arena football.
