Edmonton, AB - The first day of on-ice action at Edmonton Oil Kings 2010 Rookie Camp is now in the books, as the team's future stars, like Griffin Reinhart, Curtis Lazar and Mason Geertsen, showcased their skills.

After registering for the camp and going through fitness testing on Thursday afternoon at Body By Bennett, 80 Oil Kings prospects (born in either 1994 or 1995) took to the ice on Friday at the Jubilee Rec Centre in Fort Saskatchewan. They've been split into four teams - each of which had a morning practice, followed by a goalie session - and two tightly-contested scrimmages were held in the evening, both decided by a lone goal.

Saturday's Rookie Camp sessions feature more games, as Blue plays Red at 8:15 a.m. and Black plays White at 10:30 a.m. in the morning block, while Blue faces Black at 5:15 p.m. and Red takes on White at 7:30 p.m. in the evening. Rookie Camp concludes on Sunday morning with the third and first-place games.

Also happening on Saturday is registration and fitness testing for Oil Kings Main Camp, featuring the older players who will make up the bulk of the roster for the 2010-2011 WHL season, such as 09-10 MVP Mark Pysyk and 09-10 leading scorer Michael St. Croix. That event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at Body By Bennet, which is located at 17627 - 111 Ave in Edmonton. Main Camp on-ice sessions start Monday at the JRC.

The Oil Kings invite all media to attend any on-ice sessions at Rookie and Main Camp, as well as Main Camp fitness testing on Saturday, for photo and interview opportunities.
