Erie Otters News Release

Sarnia, ON - The Erie Otters snapped a 13-game winless streak with authority as rookies *Travis Wood *and *Jake Evans* each had a pair of goals to lead Erie to a 7-3 win over the Sarnia Sting Friday night.

An early goal by Craig Hottot gave the Sting a brief lead, as the Otters scored 61 seconds later after *Greg McKegg* deflected a *Connor Brown* shot for his 10th goal of the season to tie the game.

Evans then scored his first OHL goal as he didn't quit in front of the front and eventually roofed a backhander over the left pad of Brandon Hope to give the Otters a 2-1 lead going into the second period.

The great effort continued in the second period, as Wood undressed Anthony DeAngelo at the Sarnia blue line and fired a shot from the left dot off the glove of Hope for his fourth goal of the season. Hope would be pulled after the goal.

*Stephen Harper* scored 71 seconds later as he knocked in a rebound from a *Nick Betz* shot past the glove side of Brandon Maxwell to give the Otters a 4-1 lead. Hottot scored later in the period to trim Erie's lead to two after 40 minutes of play.

Brown scored 24 seconds into the third to put the Otters back up by three with his 10th goal of the season. Wood scored another highlight reel goal to make it 6-2 four and a half minutes later as he deked to his left and scored with a backhander to his right for his second of the game.

Domenic Alberga scored on a strange play with over seven minutes remaining but his goal was matched by Evans' second of the game, as he finished off a two-on-one with Betz to complete the rout.

Along with great games from Wood and Evans, Betz had three assists for the night. McKegg, Brown and Harper each had a goal and an assist.

The Otters continue on the road Saturday night to take on the Windsor Spitfires at 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the broadcast on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or online at ottershockey.com.
