Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings organization is proud to announce, on behalf of Wings forward TJ Roo that he has committed to play collegiate hockey for Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota following his junior career.
Roo, of Champlain Park, Minnesota is in his rookie season with the Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League. So far, Roo has compiled 10 goals and 18 assists including a goal in last week's 4-3 shootout win over Bismarck.
"It's a special opportunity for TJ to play college hockey at Bemidji State where his father also played," said Wings head coach and former Bemidji State standout Travis Winter. "TJ is going to be a great addition to their program. He has great offensive instincts, an ability to make plays, and he competes."
Roo will join current Wings forward Jordan Heller at Bemidji State, who also has another former Aberdeen Wings captain Cory Ward.
"We are excited for TJ and look forward to continuing his development," added Coach Winter.
Other Wings players who have made college commitments include forward Erik Baskin (Air Force), forward Jordan Heller (Bemidji State), and forward Colin O'Neill (UMass-Lowell). This year two former Aberdeen Wings players, now in the USHL, also made commitments such as defenseman Steven Johnson (Minnesota) and forward Peter Krieger (Alaska-Fairbanks).
