Rockford Lightning News Release
Marlon Parmer led the Lightning with game highs of 29 points and 9 assists as
Rockford went on to win their seventh straight game in a 114-108 victory over the
visiting Albany Patroons on Tuesday night at the MetroCentre.
The Lightning shot .533 (40-for-75) from the field as Parmer went 8-for-12 including
2-of-2 from behind the arc. The Patroons shot just .422 (38-for-90) in the game as
they were held to just 4-for-22 from behind the arc.
Rockford won 6.0 of the 7.0 possible quarter points in the game. The team has gone
10-2 in the month of January as they improved to 23-8 on the season after winning
eighteen of their last twenty-one games. The Lightning have gone 17-3 since the
addition of Lawrene Nelson on December 14. Prior to Nelson joining the team, the
Lightning were 6-5 and battling for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with the
Gary Steelheads. Since he joined the team, the Lightning have climbed to the top of
the CBA and the best start since the 1992-93 Rockford team that finished 44-12 on
the season before losing to the Grand Rapids Hoops in the American Conference
Finals.
Ronnie Fields set another Lightning record when he pulled down his third rebound of
the game in the third quarter passing Jim Lampley as the all-time leading rebounder
in Lightning history with 1,033 career boards. Fields is in his sixth season with
the Lightning and now ranks first in ten major statistical categories with the team
including games played (225), minutes played (6,834), field goals made (1,553),
field goals attempted (3,076), free throws made (960), free throws attempted
(1,239), points (4,303), steals (525), rebounds (1,033), and three-pointers made
(237).
With 0:39 remaining in the game and the Lightning up 109-108, Fields stole the ball
from Jamario Moon and dished it to Parmer for a lay-up to seal the victory for the
Lightning.
Head Coach Chris Daleo and the Lightning will take on the Idaho Stampede tonight at the MetroCentre. Tip-off is set for 7:05 P.M. (CST) with the first 1,000 fans in attendance receiving a Roger Powell trading card. Group tickets can be purchased at a discounted price through the Lightning offices at 815-874-4232.
