Bristol White Sox News Release

The Bristol White Sox will welcome "Rocket" Ron Necciai back to Bristol on Friday, June 29, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his unique feat of striking out 27 batters in a nine-inning game in Bristol in 1952.

Necciai's amazing accomplishment came on May 13, 1952, playing the Bristol Twins, a minor league affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Necciai no-hit the visiting Welch Miners at the former Shaw Stadium, 7-0, in his record-setting performance.

"We are excited to welcome Ron back to Bristol," said Mahlon Luttrell, President of Bristol Baseball, Incorporated and General Manager for the White Sox. "His amazing feat has never been equaled in all of professional baseball and probably never will be. This is a great chance for our fans to see a part of baseball history right here in Bristol."

Necciai will sign autographs prior to Friday's 7:00 p.m. Sox game against the Princeton Rays, and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Bristol White Sox, also known as the Bristol Sox, are operated by Bristol Baseball, Incorporated, a non-profit organization operated by an all-volunteer Board which has no full-time paid staff.
