
Astros battle but fall short of sweeping Princeton

Greeneville, TN- The Greeneville Astros hosted the Princeton Rays at Pioneer Park Wednesday night. However, the Astros fell short in a 6-3 loss to the Rays despite some strong hitting numbers as a team. On the game, the team recorded nine hits and plated three runs.
Greeneville got the scoring started with a two-out Josh Magee single that brought around Michael Martinez in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Princeton answered in the top of the third with a Brandon Martin RBI-triple, and through three innings the game was tied 1-1.
The Rays plated two runs on a double and a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth before Greeneville answered again in the bottom of the inning. Greeneville's runs came via a two-out double by shortstop Jean Batista to drive in Ruben Sosa, followed by a single by left fielder Marc Wik that drove in Batista.
The Rays scored the go-ahead runs in the top half of the sixth on an Oscar Hernandez RBI-double and a two-run homer by John Alexander to take the game to what would be the final score of 6-3 in favor of Princeton.
