Isliexel Gonzalez got the start for the Mariners Wednesday night against the. The 6'3'' Venezuelan right-hander looked great through his five innings pitched. Gonzalez kept the Cardinal hitters guessing by effectively hitting his spots with every pitch in his repertoire. He ended the night only giving up two hits, two walks and striking out five Johnson City batters. The right-hander also threw an impressive 71 percent of his 66 pitches for strikes.
Down 1 to 0 in the bottom of the fifth, Pulaski put up three runs with a four hit inning. Gilmer Lampe led off with a double down the left field line, followed by an RBI single by Bryan Brito. Levi Dean was then called from the bullpen to extinguish the threat. To the relief of the Mariner fans in attendance that is exactly what Dean did, getting Cardinals RF Dutch Deol to fly-out to left.
