Romell Quioto Called up by Honduras for Concacaf Nations League

MONTREAL - CF Montréal striker Romell Quioto was called up on Wednesday by the Honduras national team on for two Concacaf Nations League matches during the upcoming FIFA international break, from November 13 to 21.

Honduras will face off against Mexico across two legs in the tournament's quarterfinal stage. Quioto's side will first host Mexico on October 17 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Los Catrachos will then fly to Mexico City to play El Tri in the second leg on November 21.

The 2023-24 Nations League A will also determine the six Concacaf teams which will qualify as guests for the 2024 Copa América, CONMEBOL's flagship men's international soccer competition.

Mirroring the 2016 tournament, Copa América 2024 will be exceptionally held in the United States. All Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal winners will earn a berth for the prestigious South American tournament while the losers advance to a qualifying play-off, featuring two single-leg matches.

Quioto's last stint with the national team took place in October, when he played 45 minutes in a 0-0 draw to Cuba, followed by 28 minutes in a 4-0 win over the same Cubans in which he scored one goal.

He made his senior national team debut on March 1, 2012. He has since scored 14 times for his country in 67 appearances.
