
Rome\'s Win Streak Hits Six

Rome, GA- The Rome Braves defeated the Asheville Tourists 6-3 in front of 3,219 fans. Braves jumped on the scoreboard first. In the fourth inning Mike Rozema doubled, moved to third on a Mark Jurich single and later scored on a Cole Armstrong sacrifice fly giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.
The Tourists tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fifth on a Florentino Nunez double scoring Neil Wilson. The Braves took the lead in the fifth inning. Steve Pyzik led off with a base hit, advanced to third on an error by Matt Miller and went to third on a bunt single by Johan Silva. JC Holt then singled home Pyzik, advancing Silva to third and then moving to second on the throw to third. Matt Young then singled scoring Silva and moving Holt to third. A balk by Jarrett Grube allowed Holt to score and moved Young to second. Young later scored on a Mike Rozema double giving the Braves a 6-1 lead.
In the sixth the Tourists scored two runs, but Braves relief pitching shut down Asheville's offense for the rest of the afternoon.
Braves starter Luis Atilano (3-3) earned the victory while Asheville's Jarrett Grube (3-1) took the loss. Dan Smith pitched two innings of relief to get the save (2).
