
Rome Gets Walk Off Win in Home Finale

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 5-4 Friday night in front of 5,030 fans at State Mutual Stadium in Rome's final home game.
In the first inning Augusta jumped out to an early lead. Josh Mazzola singled to center and Andy D'Alessio doubled to left center for the GreenJackets 1-0 lead.
The Braves would answer back in the top of the fifth. A two RBI single by Ryan Barba followed by a Shayne Moody double accounted for three of the runs. Matt Kennelly would then add another single to score Moody to put the Braves up 4-1.
In the seventh Augusta would score three runs to tie the game at 4-4. Their rally was highlighted by RBI doubles by Andy D'Alessio and Charlie Culberson as well as a Juan Perez sacrifice fly, scoring Culberson.
The Braves would break the tie in the bottom of the ninth when Derek Wiley led off with a single up the middle and Kuyaunnis Miles laid down a sacrifice bunt moving Wiley to second. Calvin Culver would then deliver a clutch single with two outs scoring pinch runner Samuel Sime and giving Rome a 5-4 win.
David Francis (5-7) picks up the win for the Braves and GreenJackets pitcher Edwin Quirarte (6-4) takes the loss..
