Rojas Rallies BayBears Past Braves in Dramatic Fashion

PEARL, Miss. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, scored four unanswered runs in the final three innings to defeat the Mississippi Braves 4-2 Wednesday at Trustmark Park.

For the second straight game, Jose Rojas hit a long ball. Trailing 2-1 in the ninth inning, Rojas slugged a one-out homer to right field off Jacob Webb (1-1) with two runners on base. He finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate and has six hits in the series.

Griffin Canning struck out a career-high nine batters in 4 2/3 innings pitched. He gave up two runs, one earned, on four hits with three walks. After Matt Custred pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, Jeremy Rhoades (3-0) kept the Braves (14-19) off the board for the final two frames. Rhoades has not surrendered a run since April 11 at Jacksonville (15 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings).

Touki Toussaint recorded a quality start, giving up one run on four hits with five strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. He left with two runners on base in the seventh, and Bo Way plated the first Mobile run with a single off Devan Watts.

The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Mississippi Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CDT. Southpaw Jose Suarez (1-1, 4.80 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Wes Parsons (1-2, 1.61 ERA) for the Braves.
