Medford Rogues News Release

MEDFORD, OR - After giving up a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, the Rogues defeated the Klamath Falls Gems 5-4 after a walk-off wild pitch brought in infielder Quentin Urban in the first game of the series.

The Rogues scored two runs in the second and two more in the fifth before Klamath tied the game in the ninth with a home run by Gems infielder Dylan Rogers.

Leadoff hitter Ryan Teel walked to start the bottom of the ninth before being subbed for Urban to pinch run. With a balk and two wild pitches, Urban made his way around the bases for the final score of the game.

With the win the Rogues set their longest winning streak of the year at four games in a row, also the longest current winning streak in the WCL.

Rogues starter and WCL All-Star Bret DeRooy pitched seven full innings allowing only four hits and five strikeouts with his only run coming off a home run in the fourth inning. Hector Lujan (3-0) picked up the win in relief despite giving up the home run to Rogers in the ninth.

Outfielder Spencer Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored along with an impressive performance in center field. Infielder Kevin Davidson added to his WCL-leading RBI total going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Davidson now has 28 RBIs on the season.

With the win the Rogues leap frog the Gems moving into fourth place in the WCL South with an 18-19 record and are only four games out of first place in the division.

The Rogues return to the field in game two of the series against Klamath Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
