Rogues Win Fifth Straight

MEDFORD, OR - After falling behind early in game two against the Klamath Falls Gems, the Rogues came from behind to extend their winning streak to five, defeating the Gems 3-2 in front of a sellout crowd of 2,223 at Harry & David Field.

The Rogues tied the game in the fourth inning and again in the fifth before finally taking the lead in the seventh inning with an RBI single by outfielder Spencer Smith.

Ashland native Jamie Flynn started for the Rogues, pitching five complete inning allowing two runs with one earned on five hits and a walk. Reliever Brandon Williams (2-3) threw four innings without allowing a single and hit along with three strikeouts to earn his second win of season.

Smith led the Rogues going 2-for-3 with two RBIs earning player of the game for the second game in a row. Infielder Kevin Davidson went 2-for-4 while third baseman Jared Casper extended his hitting streak to six games going 1-for-3 on the night with an RBI. Davidson is now fourth in the WCL with a .382 average and retains his league lead with 28 RBI.

With the win the Rogues have won 14 of their last 21 games, reaching .500 for the first time all season with an 18-18 record and are now only 3.5 games out of first place in the WCL. The WCL's record for wins by an expansion team is 19 and the Rogues have a WCL-best current winning streak of five.

The Rogues will look to sweep the Gems in the final game of the series on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
