Medford Rogues News Release
CORVALLIS, OR - Holding on by a thread to first place in the WCL South, the Medford Rogues sought to take the final game of a three-game series against the Corvallis Knights. A great pitching performance by Knights starter Chris Haddeland gave Medford little hope as the Knights dominated with a 7-0 win at Goss Stadium.
The Knights scored a single run in the bottom of the third and added three more in the bottom of the third on a triple by RF Dalton Kelly and a sacrifice fly by CF Scott Quinlan. Rogues starter Jackson Bertsch (3-1) was chased after five full innings and charged with the four runs, two unearned, to take his first loss of the year.
RHP Dylan Ramage took over in the sixth for Medford and gave up a run in the sixth on another sacrifice fly by Quinlan to make it 5-0. With Max Compton in for Medford, a double steal attempt by Corvallis in the seventh led to two Rogues errors and a 7-0 lead.
Haddleland (2-2) stymied the Rogues on five hits through 6 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out three to pick up the win for Corvallis. The only serious Medford threat came in the seventh when consecutive singles by Chris DeVito, Levi Periera and Adonis Morrison loaded the bases with one out, but the Rogues were unable to score. The Knights allowed only five hits on the night, with DeVito and Morrison each getting two hits.
The next home game for the Rogues will be on July 3 at 6:35p.m. against the NW Star Academy with a firework display after the game. WCL play resumes July 4-5 with a two-game series against the Bend Elks at Harry & David Field. Sunday the Klamath Falls Gems visit Medford to make up the rained out June 25 game prior to a six-game road trip with a return to Corvallis and a three-game set in Victoria, B.C.
