Bend earns come-from-behind 6-2 victory

Pinch hitter Josh Cushing stroked a go-ahead single in the bottom of the eighth inning to highlight a five-run rally, leading the Bend Elks to a come from behind 6-2 victory over the Kelowna Falcons at Vince Genna Stadium Wednesday evening in a West Coast League baseball game.

Louis Cohen earned the victory for the Elks with two strong innings of relief, capping a solid night of Elks pitching. Starter Zack Carter scattered six hits in six innings and did not walk a batter. Jordan Wilcox pitched a scoreless seventh for Bend.

Zach Close scored two runs and added an RBI single in the decisive eighth inning for the Elks.

Bend, victorious in 10 of their last 12 games, is now 14-11 on the season. Kelowna falls to 7-17.

Bend is on the road for a two-game series against Medford on Friday, July 4 at 1:05 pm and Saturday, July 5 at 6:35 pm. The Elks return to Vince Genna Stadium for a six-game homestand against Klamath Falls and Yakima Valley beginning Monday, July 7 at 6:35 pm.
