Medford Rogues News Release
MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues won their 11th straight home game tonight with a come from behind 6-5 win over the Kitsap BlueJackets. The win keeps Medford in the WCL South playoff hunt as the Rogues are now three games behind second-place Bend for a playoff spot.
Trailing 5-3 in the eighth inning, Medford scored three runs as Danny McNabb was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a Corey Wynant double. Little-used 2B Jake Whisler then hit a double to the center field wall, scoring the tying runs. After moving to third on a Ray McIntire fielder's choice, he scored the winning run on a wild pitch from Kitsap's Kyle McKay.
Kitsap scored a single run in the first inning, two in the third and one in the fourth to chase Rogues starter Jamie Flynn. John Forsythe came in to steady the ship and went four innings of one-run, three-hit ball to move to 4-1 on the season. Current WCL Player of the Week Brandon Williams struck out the side in the ninth to earn his second save. Kitsap's John Bodenhamer (0-1) took the loss for the BlueJackets.
With the win the Rogues move to 28-24 and are guaranteed to finish with a winning record. The previous record for wins by a WCL expansion team is 19, set by the 2011 Klamath Falls Gems, and no WCL expansion team has ever had a winning record in its first year prior to this season in Medford.
The two teams meet Wednesday night at Harry & David Field in game two of the three-game series, the last league series of the season for the Rogues.
