Bend Elks News Release
Corvallis, OR - The Bend Elks scored 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning, but Corvallis came back to score 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th as the Elks fell twice in as many days, losing to the Corvallis Knights 6-3.
Corvallis (33-17) jumped out early as Peter Van Gansesn delivered an RBI single in the 1st and 3rd off of Taylor Elman (4-2) to give the Knights the early 2-0 lead.
The Elks (30-20) would respond in the top of the 4th inning, snapping a 9 inning scoreless streak. Turner Gill opened up the inning with a single, Derek Dixon dropped down a sacrifice bunt, but an error by Knights 3rd baseman Cody Lenahan put runners on the corners with nobody out. Cullen O'Dwyer then came through with an RBI single, Grant Newton singled, Landon Cray delivered an RBI single, and Zach Close delivered a sacrifice fly to give the Elks the 3-2 lead.
But Corvallis responded to score 2 in the bottom of the 5th to retake the lead against Taylor Elman and Michael Jordan, then tacked one more on in the 6th inning, and the Knights secured a season series victory against the Elks.
Bend will look to avoid the 3 game sweep on Wednesday, first pitch at 6:40 p.m.
