Rogues Drop Series to Corvallis

Medford Rogues News Release

CORVALLIS, OR - One bad inning was all it took for the Medford Rogues to give Corvallis a series sweep with a 4-0 loss at Goss Stadium.

Rogues starting pitcher John Forsythe (3-1) flirted with danger all evening, loading the bases in the second inning with the help of his own error. He got out of that inning but gave up three in the third helped by a hit batter, an error by SS Joe Chavez and run-scoring doubles by Corvallis DH Kevin Kline and 1B Gabe Clark. Forsythe was relieved by Dillon Keene in the fourth inning but took the loss for Medford.

The Rogues threatened in the first inning with leadoff hitter Spencer Smith being thrown out at home to end the inning. They did not come close to scoring again until a ninth-inning triple by Chavez, who was stranded to end the game.

Medford drops to 20-22 and remains 4 ½ games out of a playoff spot with Bend's loss to Klamath Falls. The Rogues return home Saturday for a crucial three-game series with the Cowlitz Black Bears. Cowlitz leads the Rogues by ½ game for third place in the WCL South playoff race. Corvallis breaks a first-place tie with Bend and takes sole possession of first in the South with a 24-15 record.
