Staten Island FerryHawks News Release

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Anthony Rodriguez won his third straight start Sunday evening at SIUH Community Park, heading a 4-1 win in the series finale against Charleston. Joseph Monge supplied most of the offense, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI to support Rodriguez' career-best 6.2 inning-performance. The FerryHawks win in their final regular season meeting with the Dirty Birds earns them five wins in six tries to begin the Atlantic League's second half.

Rodriguez (4-4) allowed a Nick Heath single to start the game, before retiring 10 consecutive Dirty Birds and 11 of-the-next 12. Monge catalyzed the offense in the third inning, stepping to the plate with one out after an Antoine Duplantis single. Facing Denson Hull, Monge blasted the lefty's offer to deep centerfield and off the batters eye for a two-run blast. Monge's first longball proved to be the game-winning hit and earned the FerryHawks a quick 2-0 lead.

Monge struck again in the fifth inning, coming to the plate to face Hull with one out and Alfredo Reyes on third. This time the FerryHawks right fielder collected a single, pushing home Reyes for a 3-0 lead. Monge would swipe second and third base for his team-leading 13thand 14thstolen bases, but was left stranded on third.

Mariel Bautista circled the bases in the sixth inning to provide Staten Island with a little insurance. After his one-out single, Bautista stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error by Dirty Birds catcher Yovan Gonzalez. Then, with Joseph Reyes at the plate, Hull tossed a wild pitch, allowing Bautista to motor home for a 4-0 lead.

Hull (2-6) lasted six innings in his second time facing the FerryHawks. He allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Rodriguez, after back-to-back six-inning outings, set a career-best by throwing 6.2 innings before giving way to Connor Law. A-Rod gave up a seventh-inning solo home run to Nick Longhi, but nearly flawless otherwise. The Dirty Birds earned just three hits against the portsider, who struck out two and walked three.

Law was summoned to face Andrew Don with two outs in the seventh inning and needed just one pitch to induce a groundout to shortstop. The right-handed reliver then issued a scoreless eighth before handing the ball to Victor Capellan for the ninth. The FerryHawks closer earned his ninth save of the season and fourth in six days by working a scoreless ninth inning.

Staten Island (23-48) hits the road Tuesday to begin a three-game series at Southern Maryland. First pitch at Regency Furniture Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 PM with the FerryHawks Pregame Show starting at 6:20 PM.

Postgame Notes: Staten Island's bullpen has not allowed a run in the last seven games (21.0 innings)...FerryHawks starting pitchers have gone at least 5.0 innings in nine straight games...Victor Capellan has not allowed an earned run in 15 straight appearances (17.0 IP, 17 K, 6 BB)...Ricardo Cespedes extended his hitting streak to eight games...Antoine Duplantis (2-for-4) has a hit in 12 of-the-last-13 games (and 16 of 18)
